Ansan Industries Ltd. is founded by Ann and Sandy, former flaggers who strike out on their own to offer flagging services in Vancouver. By 2003, Ansan Industries is employing 80 flaggers.
The company is purchased with an ambitious goal of transforming Ansan Industries and taking it to the next level.
Expansion begins and a new office space is acquired on the Quay in New Westminster. The office staff consists of a dispatcher, bookkeeper and manager.
The first fleet of lane closure vehicles is acquired and the Company’s market share begins to increase.
Attention and focus is directed to safety and in-house TCP training is introduced. Staff members are also provided with safety training provided by BCCSA.
Ansan relocates to McMillan Way in Richmond when the growing number of office staff and fleet of vehicles quickly outgrows the previous New Westminster space.
Ansan expands its customer base to include utilities and additional municipalities by completing its first set of acquisitions; LaneTec Traffic Control and D.C. Traffic Control.
Ansan successfully manages traffic control services for the 2010 Winter Olympics in the Lower Mainland; 200+ flaggers were hired and trained to service the 2-month+ duration of the massive event.
In response to customer demand, the Company introduces BC Traffic Systems Ltd., a new equipment rental division to provide one-stop-solution services.
Ansan becomes the successful bidder for all BC traffic control requirements for a large telecom provider. To carry out this project, a network of 40 sub-contractors is created – all dispatched from a centralized delivery system that services every area in BC.
Ansan expands to Vancouver Island by acquiring Flaggirls Traffic Control – (later changed to Western Traffic Ltd.), and quickly becomes the Island’s standard in traffic control.
The Company becomes the exclusive BC distributor of European traffic control systems, equipment and innovative methods.
Ansan acquires its main competitor on Vancouver Island, Island Traffic Services Ltd., to become the largest supplier of traffic control services.
In response to fast growth, the Company is restructured by region to form Ansan Traffic Group Ltd. (ATG) and Island Traffic Group Ltd. (ITG).
Victoria Contracting and Municipal Maintenance Corporation and Terraworx Landscaping Contractors are acquired to diversify into road maintenance and landscaping.
Ansan is nominated as Business of the Year by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
VanIsle Traffic on Vancouver Island is acquired to provide traffic control services to BC ferries.
Ansan announces trade name registrations for:
“Ansan Traffic Group”, “ATG”
“Ansan Traffic Control”, “ATC”
“Ansan Traffic Management”, “ATM” and “ITG”.
A new office building and warehouse is built on McCallum Rd in Langford, BC to centralize Vancouver Island divisions.
Ansan acquires Tran Sign (1999) Ltd. to supply its traffic control signs.
A new Kelowna division is established to support local customers and build partnerships in the Okanagan/Southern Interior to facilitate future growth opportunities.
The Company is awarded EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year for the Pacific region.
The Alliance Traffic Group is acquired to gain market share in the Interior and Northern BC.
Ansan introduces a formal Human Resources function to manage programs that support the Company’s most important success factor – its people.
DL Safety is acquired by Ansan family in Sept. to further expand and respond to the market demand.
Ansan Traffic Group opens the centralized dispatch center in Richmond, BC.
Ansan Group merged with The Universal Group.
